The FBI had files on Walter Cronkite, the legendary CBS newsman who died earlier this year at age 92.
Under federal law, with Cronkite’s death, the files can be made public. However, in this case that’s not going to happen, because the FBI says they destroyed Cronkite’s files in October, 2007, USA Today reports..
A former lawyer for the FBI says the Cronkite files should not have been destroyed, the newspaper reports.
USA Today was not able to find out what information the now destroyed files contained.
