Disney Channel is working on a new original movie that melds "High School Musical" with a ukulele, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
The movie is based on the novel "Lemonade Mouth," which follows five Rhode Island freshmen who put together a garage band with odd instrumentation, including the ukulele. The script is from April Blair and based on the novel by Mark Peter Hughes.
The band’s name, which is also the book and project’s title, stems from a protest in the novel to spare the school’s organic-lemonade machine. Emmy-nominated producer Debra Martin Chase will produce the TV movie.
Too bad Arthur Godfrey and Tiny Tim aren’t still around, they would have been perfect for this.
