A former host of a Food Network program will appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Monday after being arrested for allegedly offering homeless people money to kill someone, the Associated Press reports.

Juan-Carlos Cruz, who had hosted the show "Calorie Commando" on the Food Network, was a former pastry chef at Los Angeles’ Hotel Bel Air who attracted fame by losing weight and promoting low-fat cooking with a cookbook called "The Juan-Carlos Cruz Calorie Countdown Cookbook."

The 48-year old is being held on $5 million bail after being arrested on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder. The police haven’t released the intended target’s name, although they have informed the person.
