"The Hard Life," a comedy pilot for the CMT and a project from "Murphy Brown" producer Bill Diamond, has cast Matthew Lillard and Gillian Vigman as its two leads, reports Nellie Andreeva on Deadline.com.

The show takes a look at how modern parenting contrasts with old-school style of child-raising, with Lillard playing Bobby and Vigman taking on the role as Gina.

"Bobby is charming and witty and tries to be a good father and a good husband but finds it hard to be both things at the same time. Gina is a caring, well-intentioned but tightly-wound former career woman-turned-full-time mom who is overprotective of her girls," Andreeva writes.
