Bob Barker, the longtime host of "The Price Is Right," will celebrate his 90th birthday with a television appearance. The Associated Press reports that Barker will be a guest on the game show he hosted for 35 years.

Barker, who retired in 2007, will appear on the show on Dec. 12, his birthday, and present a special showcase for the event, the story says. The show will also pay tribute to its former host by featuring pet adoptions that week, from Dec. 9-13. Barker is an outspoken animal rights advocate.

The current host of "The Price Is Right" is Drew Carey.

For those old enough to remember, Barker also had another long stint on a game show, hosting "Truth or Consequences" from 1956 to 1974. His run on "The Price Is Right" from 1972-2007 helped make it the longest-running daytime game show of all time on North American TV.

  1. Yes, I remember when Jack Bailey turned the T or C show over to a young Bob Barker, 57 years ago. Just a child, mind you, but I remember the hoopla. And I remember Bill Cullen as the original host of The Price is Right. God, I’m old.
