David Goyer, who created the Starz TV series "Da Vinci's Demons," is joining forces with James Cameron on his next project, reports The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive story.

The story says that Goyer, who has also "guided the screen story for 'The Dark Knight' trilogy and 'Man of Steel,' has been tapped to write the treatment for the remake of the 1966 sci-fi classic ['Fantastic Voyage'], which is being made by Fox and Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment."

The article continues: " 'Voyage' has long been in development and has seen many a scribe come and go, Shane Salerno, Cormac and Marianne Wibberly, and Laeta Kalogridis among them.

Cameron directed the mega-hits "Avatar" and "Titanic."

A "Fantastic Voyage" remake "has been quiet since 2011, but Goyer's involvement kick-starts and will re-engineer what the studio and producers hope to be an event-sized tentpole," the story reports. "It is also now placing the project on the fast track."

The original "Fantastic Voyage," released in 1966, is about a group of scientists who are shrunk and injected into a person's body.
