Queen Elizabeth II, the 88-year-old monarch of the United Kingdom, visited the Belfast sets of HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” giving the Iron Throne a once-over but declining to sit in it, reports CBS News.
“Unlike many visitors to Belfast's Titanic Studios, Queen Elizabeth II declined to take a seat on the throne created for the ruler of the mythical Seven Kingdoms,” the story reports. “But she did take a look at many of the set props during her visit.”
The show’s creators, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, gave the queen a tour of the sets, where she also spoke with actors including Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, the piece notes.
