Fox named David Madden the new president of entertainment for the broadcasting group, and promoted Joe Earley to chief operating officer of the combined broadcast and studio business. They’re the first executive changes since Gary Newman and Dana Walden took over as group chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group, combining the broadcast group with 20th Century Fox TV studio.
Newman and Walden had previously said they would not name someone to fill the entertainment chief role after Kevin Reilly’s departure during the upfronts.
Madden, who previously served as president of the Fox TV Studios, will now oversee scripted and alternative programming and development for Fox network, as well as casting. Fox will name a new president of Fox TV Studios shortly, the company said in a statement.
Earley will work with the studio’s development, production, business affairs, marketing and finance matters, as well as continue to oversee marketing, communications, digital, multi-platform programming, research, talent relations, scheduling and audience strategy at the network. Previously, Earley served as chief operating officer for Fox Broadcasting Company and had been overseeing development and programming for Fox for several months.
Both Madden and Earley will report to Newman and Walden.
