An Academy Award-nominated screenwriter has been named as the executive producer and showrunner of Hallmark Channel’s original scripted show “The Good Witch.” Deadline.com reports that Daniel Petrie Jr. is getting the job.

The series is based on the network’s telefilm franchise, and is slated to premiere in early 2015. The show stars Catherine Bell as the witch Cassie Nightingale. The series’ debut will come after Hallmark airs the seventh installment in the movie franchise, “The Good Witch’s Wonder,” which will be televised Oct. 25.

Petrie was nominated for an Oscar for writing on 1985’s “Beverly Hills Cop.”
