Syfy’s “Sharknado 2” is taking an ever-bigger bite out of the cable ratings, drawing an additional 5.6 million viewers in the week after its initial broadcast, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.
Three additional airings of the campy sequel have boosted overall viewership to 9.5 million, which matches the original’s month-long TV run, the story notes. “Sharknado 2” drew a record-breaking 3.9 million viewers to last Wednesday’s debut.
The most-watched rebroadcast was on Saturday, when 2.3 million viewers tuned in.
“Sharknado 3” is anticipated for 2015, the piece adds.
