‘Jeopardy!’ Under Fire for Quiz Category

Oct 2, 2014  •  Post A Comment

The long-running syndicated quiz program “Jeopardy!” is taking heat for one of its quiz categories. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the program is being accused of sexism after including a category called “What Women Want,” with answers including tight jeans and pilates.

Here’s an example of a clue: “Some help around the house; would it kill you to get out the Bissell Bagless Canister one of these every once in a while?” The answer? What is a vacuum cleaner.

The answers were supposed to represent things that are priorities for women, the story notes. Twitter was filled with complaints about the category, including objections from “Chicago PD” star Sophia Bush, while “Late Show with David Letterman” made fun of the category in its Top Ten list on Wednesday, the story adds.

“Jeopardy!” didn’t respond to a request for comment.

Here’s a clip of the Letterman bit:

  1. It was bad enough that Alex brought back that awful mustache. Seriously. And now the show’s quality control and sense of social responsibility have hit the skids.

  2. The one shortage we will never encounter is a shortage of people who are prepared to work overtime to find a reason to be offended.

Message to assh*ts everywhere: It’s a GAME SHOW!

  3. new category: what losers do , answer: look for stuff on tv and online to get offended and angry over
