FX is developing a drama series about one of the most notorious serial killers of all time. Deadline.com reports that the project, “From Hell,” is based on a graphic novel by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell that focuses on Jack the Ripper.

The graphic novel previously served as the basis for a 2001 movie starring Johnny Depp and Robbie Coltrane. The film’s producer, Don Murphy, is executive producing the FX project, while David Arata of “Children of Men” will write the adaptation.

“From Hell” tells the story of Jack the Ripper with the murderer as the main character. The article notes: “The 572-page graphic novel is a meditation on the mind of a madman whose savagery and violence gave birth to the 20th century.”

The graphic novel is considered one of the top 10 of all time, the piece adds.
