Kennedy Family Member Settles Lawsuit Against Nancy Grace

Nov 13, 2014  •  Post A Comment

Kennedy family member Michael Skakel has settled a lawsuit against Nancy Grace over remarks she made in 2012 about him on her HLN show, reports the Associated Press.

Details of the settlement weren’t disclosed. Skakel is a nephew of Ethel Skakel Kennedy, the widow of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy.

According to the AP report: “Skakel’s 2013 lawsuit said he was slandered by untrue comments that DNA linked him to the 1975 killing of his Greenwich neighbor Martha Moxley when both were 15 years old. The lawsuit named Grace, Time Warner Inc., Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and commentator Beth Karas.”

Convicted in 2002, Skakel has maintained his innocence, and was freed last year when a new trial was ordered. HLN retracted the comments last month.

“HLN’s Nancy Grace show mistakenly reported that DNA evidence linking Michael Skakel to the murder of Martha Moxley was found at the crime scene,” the network said in a statement Oct. 30. “This aspect of its report is inaccurate. There was never any DNA evidence offered in the trial linking Michael Skakel to the murder of Martha Moxley.”

  1. And…this just in: there is no DNA evidence linking Nancy Grace to trustworthy reporting. Her conjecture and self righteousness are all that’s needed to convict on her show. Move along…nothing to see here but a sadly strident muddle aged woman and her tangential connection to the justice system that’s mercifully over.

  2. She definitely seems to get some kind of fetish-like arousal from describing gruesome crimes in graphic detail.

  3. She single-handedly started the downfall of CNN, and is now helping it into complete financial disaster as the people she’s slandered start winning their lawsuits against CNN. I hope she has to pay the judgements from her own pockets, since her mouth is what brought all this on.
