Travel Channel today announced the appointment of a new senior vice president. The cable channel named Robert Madden as its senior VP, marketing, creative, communications and brand strategy.
“In this position, Madden will be responsible for the direct management of the consumer marketing, creative services and communications departments,” the company said in its announcement. “He will oversee all phases of brand strategy and development, network positioning and communications, as well as all on-air and off-air marketing initiatives for Travel Channel.”
Making the announcement was Shannon O’Neill, president, Travel Channel. Madden, who officially takes the post Dec. 1, will be based at the network’s headquarters in Chevy Chase, Md., and will report to O’Neill.
In the announcement, O’Neill said: “Bob is a unique executive who combines strong leadership skills with a savvy business perspective. He is smart, innovative and strategic, and will lead our efforts to extend the Travel Channel brand across multiple media platforms and grow our audience.”
The announcement adds: “Madden has been with Scripps Networks Interactive since 2007, where he has worked across multiple brands in various positions. He most recently served as the general manager and senior vice president of digital for Food Network and Cooking Channel. During his time at Scripps, Madden and his team have built some of the most compelling and popular cross-platform food experiences across the web, mobile and social.”
