Leading the way on the list of TV nominees revealed today for the Writers Guild Awards are newcomers “Transparent,” from Amazon, and “Silicon Valley” from HBO, along with perennials such as HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and “True Detective,” AMC’s “Mad Men,” ABC’s “Modern Family” and CBS’s “The Good Wife.”

But at least one perennial contender for TV awards, Showtime’s “Homeland,” failed to make the cut, as did the highly touted FX series “Fargo.”

“Transparent” and “Silicon Valley” were each nominated for best comedy series and for best new series, with “Transparent” also picking up a nod in the episodic comedy category.

Other double nominees included “Game of Thrones,” HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” “True Detective,” FX’s “Louie,” “The Good Wife,” “Mad Men,” and “Modern Family.”

The guild will announce the winners in a dual ceremony on both coasts Feb. 14.
