Discovery Has a ‘Premium Service’ in Mind Following Deal With Hulu Plus

In the wake of its recently announced deal with Hulu Plus, Discovery Communications is also talking about bringing its shows to another streaming service.

CEO David Zaslav told the UBS investor conference that Discovery wants to make a deal with Netflix, but the two sides haven’t been able to agree on “value,” Variety reports. The two companies already have a deal for some shows, but they don’t air until 18 months after their original airing.

Earlier this week Discovery announced a new deal that gives Hulu exclusive subscription VOD rights to the series “Deadliest Catch,” along with rights to “MythBusters” and many other shows from Discovery’s cable networks.

Zaslav told the conference that Discovery shows would be a good fit with Netflix, “which he suggested has become more of a ‘premium service’ in recent years,” Variety reports.
