Report: Bill Cosby Made Secret Deal With National Enquirer to Keep Allegations Quiet

Comedian Bill Cosby cut a deal with the National Enquirer nearly a decade ago to keep some of the allegations against him secret, The New York Times reports.

Citing previously sealed federal court documents that were released last week, The Times reports that in 2005 Cosby gave the tabloid an exclusive interview in order to get it to drop a separate “more damaging article about previously undisclosed sexual assault allegations.”

The comedian, in a deposition, said he agreed to give an interview about allegations of sexual assault being made by one woman — so that the second article would not appear — because he worried that the second charge would bolster the credibility of the first, The Times reports.
