Fox has ordered new seasons of three current shows—two dramas and a comedy.

Both “Empire” and “Gotham” will get second seasons. Also ordered is a third season of the sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” Fox made the announcement on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, as part of its Television Critics Association day in Pasadena, Calif.

About “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” Fox said, in a release, “Season-to-date,” the show “is averaging a 2.7/7 in viewers 18-49, up 17% in the key demographic versus last season, and generating the largest year-to-year gains of any sophomore series. Additionally, the series’ Jan 4 broadcast delivered a Live +3 rating of 3.6/9 in Adults 18-49, the show’s highest Live +3 rating of the season.”

The release about “Empire” said, “Earning a 5.3 rating in Nielsen’s Most Current measure, ‘Empire’ has emerged as the No. 1 new series of the season.” No elaboration in the release, but on Jan. 15, 2015 the Hollywood Reporter wrote, “ ‘Empire’ proved that it isn’t a one-trick pony on Wednesday night. The Fox drama, which hit the season’s highest live-plus-same-day rating for a new series last week, maintained its premiere momentum in its second week — and actually managed to improve a touch.

“After a steady ‘American Idol,’ ‘Empire’ averaged a 4.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.3 million viewers. That’s up from last week’s already formidable scores, which rose to a 5.3 rating in the key demo and 13.1 million viewers after three days of delayed viewing.”

About “Gotham” a third Fox release said, “Averaging a 4.2 rating in adults 18-49 and 10.6 million viewers, ‘Gotham’ is this season’s No. 1 broadcast drama overall among men 18-49 and men 18-34. The debut episode…with a 6.0/18 rating among adults 18-49, outperformed ‘The Blacklist’ and ‘Scorpion’ and delivered Fox’s highest rated fall drama debut in 14 years. This Live +7 rating reflects the largest post-three-day-ratings gain (0.9) of any broadcast drama ever.”
