After one of the hosts allegedly punched a producer, BBC is scrapping the rest of the season of its hit car show “Top Gear.”

As we reported Tuesday, co-host Jeremy Clarkson was suspended after being involved in what was described as a “fracas” behind the scenes.

Variety quotes BBC News special correspondent Lucy Manning saying: “The next two episodes of ‘Top Gear’ will not be broadcast and it’s understood that a third program, the final of the (season), is unlikely to be transmitted.”

Variety adds: “Clarkson was suspended after an allegation that he punched one of the show’s producers, Oisin Tymon, over a dispute about the lack of food after a day’s filming. An investigation is taking place into the incident, which is believed to have happened last week.”

Clarkson remains a popular figure among the show’s fans, with more than 350,000 people signing a petition asking for his reinstatement on the show, according to the Variety report.

The report notes: “’Top Gear’ is the world’s most widely watched factual television program, according to the BBC, with a global audience estimated at more than 350 million in 214 territories worldwide.”

  1. That’s bloody cock if I say so myself.
I would have punched the producer too if I had worked all day and found out there was no caterer.
I am boycotting BBC until Jeremy is back on Top Gear and Top Gear is back on TV.

  2. I support the BBC. Apparently this was not the first time he has done something like this. He was told if it happened again, he would be sacked. Bravo to BBC for standing by their word & not letting a bully get away with it.
