Authorities are saying that David Crosby, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the seminal bands the Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash, crashed into a jogger over the weekend, putting the man in the hospital.
CBS News reports: “The California Highway Patrol said in a statement that Crosby was driving his Tesla electric car on Sunday at about 55 mph, the posted speed limit on the road in the Santa Barbara area where he lives. The 73-year-old Crosby was driving toward the sun with limited vision when he hit 46-year-old Jose Jimenez, who was jogging along the right side of the road.”
Jimenez, who reportedly suffered broken bones, cuts and bruises, was expected to survive, the report notes. Crosby was uninjured.
“The CHP says neither drugs nor alcohol were factors in the accident,” the report notes.
Michael Jensen, PR manager for Crosby, told USA Today: “David Crosby is obviously very upset that he accidentally hit anyone. And, based off of initial reports, he is relieved that the injuries to the gentleman were not life threatening. He wishes the jogger a very speedy recovery.”
