The entertainment industry continues to have a less than spectacular track record on the touchy topic of discrimination, according to panel members who gathered recently as part of “Exploring Unconscious Bias,” a discussion hosted by the Writers Guild of America, West.

Moderated by showrunner Glen Mazzara, the panel featured executive producer Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “How to Get Away with Murder”), actor Geena Davis (“Thelma & Louise,” “Commander in Chief”), writer/director/executive producer Callie Khouri (“Thelma & Louise,” “Nashville”), director/producer Todd Holland (“Malcolm in the Middle”), executive producer Peter Paige (“The Fosters”) and Google’s manager of global diversity and talent programs, Judith Williams.

The panelists offered frank opinions on where things stand and what can and should be done about it. TVWeek Open Mic writer Hillary Atkin was on hand for the lively session and presents the highlights in her latest report, which you can read by clicking here.
