ESPN Parts Ways With Veteran Commentator

A sports commentator who has been working with ESPN for more than a decade has parted ways with the network. Sports Illustrated reports that Lou Holtz, who has been analyzing college football for the cable channel since 2004, is out.

Holtz, the longtime coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, has been a fixture on ESPN’s Saturday “College Football Final” pregame shows.

The decision was reportedly a mutual one. A spokesperson for ESPN told the publication: “Lou brought a champion’s perspective and a legacy of accomplishment to our coverage along with his distinctive style and humor. We appreciate his contributions and wish him all the best in the future.

  1. Well done. I’m sure Mark May is happy.

Now, can we send Vitale out to pasture as well?

  2. This new rush to eliminate the old guys is sad. Hopefully another network or Fox regional sports will pick him up
