Twitter has a new VIP subscriber who will go by name @POTUS. And no it’s not Kevin Spacey, who plays the President of the United States on “House of Cards.”
It’s the real President of the United States, Barack Obama.
“The president announced on Monday at 11:41 a.m. ET that he had finally gotten his own personal Twitter account as @POTUS,” reports ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
The story continues, “Of the 65 accounts that he is following, 58 are political, 3 are the colleges he attended (Occidental College, Columbia and Harvard) and four are his favorite sports teams: the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox. Noticeably absent? The Cubs.
“Since Obama is a White Sox fan, he doesn’t root for the team on the north side of Chicago.”
Obama’s first tweet was:
Dad, husband, and 44th President of the United States. Tweets may be archived: http://wh.gov/privacy .
Which drew this response:
It’s about time, @POTUS! –mo
