As ABC Family pursues the goal of doubling its original programming during the next four years, the channel announced it has greenlighted production of a pilot for a new one-hour drama, “Stay.” The project follows pilot orders for “Gorgeous Morons” and the supernatural drama “Beyond.”

The channel describes “Stay” as “an edge-of-your-seat thriller about a recently widowed police detective and his two daughters who are stranded at a foreboding hotel and must unravel the hotel’s mysteries to escape.” The project is written and executive produced by Spenser Cohen. Jon Turteltaub (“National Treasure,” “Sorcerer’s Apprentice”) will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer, along with Anna Halberg.

Said Karey Burke, executive vice president of Programming and Development for ABC Family: “’Stay’ is an emotionally powerful story about a fractured family that comes back together under the most unexpected of circumstances. ’Stay’ is a haunting and surprising ride that we are excited to bring to life.”
