CBS Corp. and Cablevision Systems Corp. have reached a comprehensive multiyear content carriage agreement covering not only retransmission of CBS-owned stations but also carriage of Showtime, CBS Sports Network and Smithsonian Channel.

The deal, which the companies announced today, also makes Cablevision the first cable or satellite provider to roll out plans to distribute CBS All Access and Showtime Internet services, which will be made available to Cablevision’s Optimum Online customers.

Financial terms of the accord were not revealed, and pricing plans, timing and other details will reportedly be announced later.

In the announcement, Tom Montemagno, executive vice president, programming, Cablevision, said: “This comprehensive new agreement builds on our strong relationship with CBS and ensures that every Optimum customer gets the highly popular CBS content they want across multiple platforms and screens. As the first distributor to agree to provide CBS’ new Internet services, Cablevision continues to expand its portfolio of next-generation offerings, connecting customers to the programming they value when and where they want it.”

Ray Hopkins, president, television networks distribution, CBS Corp., added: “We are pleased with this new agreement that meets all of our economic and strategic goals. Cablevision has long been a terrific partner and we once again look forward to providing CBS and Showtime programming to the viewers we share for years to come.”
