Even with Kanye West going off on an epic rant, and with a splashy haul of heavy hardware finding its way once again to Taylor Swift, host Miley Cyrus found a way to steal the spotlight at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.

The AP reports: “Miley Cyrus’ various costumes for Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards were for the most part nearly naked — and then she took it a step farther and flashed her nipple during a costume change.”

The report adds: “As the camera panned backstage, Cyrus failed to cover up and the broadcast quickly cut away to the crowd while she continued to talk. She then said, ‘What’s happening? Oh, sorry.'”

Cyrus also made numerous drug references during the telecast and finished off the appearance with a song about smoking pot, the report notes.

A rep for MTV said the shot of Cyrus’ nipple would be removed from rebroadcasts of the show, the AP report notes.
