Trump ‘Disinvited’ From Major GOP Event, Hit With Backlash Over Attack on Fox News Host

Donald Trump’s choice of words in his post-debate attack on debate moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly has earned a flood of negative attention for the GOP presidential front-runner, with critics suggesting Trump has a problem with women.

CNN reports that the war of words between Trump and Kelly escalated Friday night when Trump commented on the debate in an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon.

Kelly confronted Trump during the debate, noting that in the past he had called some women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.” Trump later called her questions “ridiculous” and “off-base,” CNN notes.

In his interview with Lemon, Trump said of Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”

CNN reports that Trump’s remark “crossed the line, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson said Friday night. He disinvited Trump from the RedState Gathering, a conservative event featuring GOP presidential hopefuls this weekend in Atlanta. Trump was scheduled to give the keynote speech Saturday night.”

Trump sent out a tweet Saturday morning that appeared to be an attempt to clarify his “wherever” comment. Trump tweeted: “Re Megyn Kelly quote: ‘you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever’ (NOSE). Just got on w/thought”

He also sent around a tweet early Saturday in which he wrote: “So many ‘politically correct’ fools in our country. We have to all get back to work and stop wasting time and energy on nonsense!”

CNN notes that Penny Young Nance, president and CEO of the conservative organization Concerned Women for America, was critical of Trump’s post-debate comments, telling the news channel that Trump’s “tantrum was even more enlightening than his original remarks she questioned.”

In a statement Saturday, Nance said of Trump: “Does he have a problem with women? Three wives would suggest that yes, maybe there’s a problem. The good news is that Kelly is a mother of toddlers and knows how to deal with petulance and tantrums. Every presidential election since 1964 has been carried by women. Women don’t like mean and we certainly won’t vote for men or women we don’t trust. Trump’s biggest woman problem is how does he convince women to trust him to keep America safe?”

  1. Trump always talks about LEVERAGE. Right now it is clear that he is creating leverage to gain later favors from Republicans when he agrees not to run a third party candidacy. Either that or he is creating a third party candidacy, using the Republican Party. That will assure that a Democrat wins and he will have LEVERAGE with Democrats. Either way he wins.

  2. The question that should be asked of Trump, is how he will manage all of his varied businesses, if he becomes President, to assure that his decisions are not a conflict of interest with his business interests or the interests of the country?

  3. Guilty Cleric, a blind trust is how every other president has handled their investments and businesses while in office. Remember government started out as a part time job! TV Week has always reported with a fairly liberal mainstream media bias and is again doing that here. The article failed to mention that in polls (NBC) taken after the debate Mr. Trump has gained a percent! In addition much of the media has been negative towards Ms. Kelly and the Fox team for playing politics rather than conducting an impartial debate. As far as individual opinions of the character and abilities of the candidates, ask yourself this question- if your life was on the line and you could chose a champion from the candidates to represent you in combat (negotiations) who would you choose? This country is in a battle for its life and we need a champion.

  4. Reality Check, for many people their lives ARE on the line. If I were in trouble and I had to rely on any of the 17 candidates for personal assistance, I think I’d be screwed.
