Hillary Clinton to Meet ‘Hillary Clinton’ on ‘SNL’ Premiere

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton is expected to come face to face with her “Saturday Night Live” counterpart — Hillary Clinton played by Kate McKinnon — on the season premiere of the NBC series, The New York Times reports.

The long-running show is set to premiere its 41st season this Saturday.

The report calls the scheduled appearance by Clinton “the latest — and highest stakes — appearance of her current push to show her funny, personable side as the campaign heads into the critical first Democratic debate and she faces headwinds in Iowa and New Hampshire and a potential challenge from Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.”

The appearance was supposed to be top secret, and the Clinton campaign would not confirm it, the report notes.

“In order to appear, Mrs. Clinton turned down the chance to give the keynote address to the influential Human Rights Campaign, the country’s most powerful lesbian and gay rights group, which will allow her to make the debut ‘SNL’ appearance of her 2016 campaign, said several people with knowledge of her schedule who could not discuss private planning for attribution.”

Clinton is expected to drop in as part of the show’s cold open. NBC declined to comment.

The report notes that “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels has a reputation for being secretive about guests, and has been known to change things up at the last minute.

  1. Has any candidate, anytime, anywhere, ever had to try harder to show her more “funny” and “personable” side???

  2. To quote her at the first Bengazi hearing: “What difference does it make?”
