Basketball star and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” personality Lamar Odom had a turnaround today in his medical crisis, emerging from a coma in his hospital room in Las Vegas, USA Today reports.
Odom was “awake and responsive to communicative attempts from his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian at a Las Vegas hospital on Friday morning, according to Odom’s college basketball coach Jim Harrick,” the publication reports. “In a telephone conversation with USA Today Sports, Harrick said that Kardashian, who married the former NBA player in 2009, had texted details of a strong improvement in Odom’s condition.”
Harrick is quoted saying: “She reached down and said, ‘You know I love you,’ and he kind of nodded. Three or four days after being scared to death and fearing the worst, that is a little hope, a little progress.”
Odom played basketball under Harrick for one season at Rhode Island University before entering the NBA draft in 1999, the report notes.
Today was the first day of good news regarding Odom’s health since he was found unresponsive Tuesday in a Nevada brothel. It was also reported today that his heart was showing evidence of increased funtion, USA Today notes.
