NBC’s announcement that Donald Trump will host an upcoming installment of “Saturday Night Live” has sparked a protest from a coalition of Hispanic activists.
The AP reports that the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda sent a letter to to “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels and NBCUniversal CEO Stephen Burke accusing the network of enabling Trump to push his “hateful speech” for the sake of ratings.
“The group asked NBC to rescind the invitation to the GOP presidential contender, who is to host ‘Saturday Night Live’ on Nov. 7,” the story reports, noting: “Trump has used the words ‘criminals’ and ‘rapists’ to describe some immigrants who are in the country illegally.”
The group is reportedly a coalition of 40 civil rights and public policy organizations.
NBC had not responded to a request for comment, the report notes.
