‘Power Rankings’ for the Rookie Shows: Here Are the Top 5 — and the 4 ‘Dead Shows Walking’

Oct 29, 2015  •  Post A Comment

A new analysis provides “power rankings” for the broadcast TV networks’ crop of new fall shows. Writing on TVbytheNumbers.com, Rick Porter ranks the 19 freshman shows that have premiered, placing the ABC drama “Quantico” at No. 1.

The power rankings put an emphasis on same-day ratings, while also weighing factors such as DVR boost and critical response. The idea is to identify the shows that have “staying power” — along with those that don’t.

Here’s the top 5:

  1. Quantico (ABC)
  2. Blindspot (NBC)
  3. Supergirl (CBS)
  4. Limitless (CBS)
  5. Dr. Ken (ABC)

Porter has four shows tied at No. 16, last place on the list, identifying them all as “Dead Shows Walking.” The shows, which have all had their initial orders cut back, are “The Player” (NBC), “Minority Report” (Fox), “Blood & Oil” (ABC) and “Truth Be Told” (NBC).
