A new agreement was announced today that extends the arrangement between the TV programming service MyNetworkTV and the Fox Television Stations. The current programming slate features five nights of back-to-back drama series airing from 8-10 p.m. (See schedule below.)
Frank Cicha, Senior VP of Programming for the Fox Television Stations, announced the deal, which extends the relationship for an additional two years, through the 2017-18 season.
“With programming Monday through Friday, MyNetworkTV airs on the Fox Television Stations in each of the top 3 markets, including New York (WWOR My9), Los Angeles (KCOP My13), and Chicago (WPWR My50),” the announcement notes. “Additional markets include Dallas (KDFI My27), D.C. (WDCA My20), Houston (KTXH My20), Phoenix (KUTP My45), Minneapolis (WFTC My29), Orlando (WRBW My65), and Charlotte (WMYT MyTV12).”
Cicha commented in the announcement: “As we enter the 10th season, our programming opportunities are getting better and better and MyNetworkTV is continuing to be a great value proposition for stations.”
The announcement notes that the Fox Television Stations Group is one of the country’s largest owned-and-operated broadcast groups, including seven duopolies among the top 10 TV markets. In a number of markets the group includes a Fox-owned station carrying Fox Network programming along with the Fox-owned station carrying the MyNetworkTV programming block.
The MyNetworkTV service, which is aimed at adults 18-49, reportedly reaches more than 97% of the country.
