Dana Carvey Gets a TV Show

A new show built around “Saturday Night Live” and “Wayne’s World” alum Dana Carvey has received an order from USA Network. Variety reports that the unscripted competition program, “First Impressions,” will focus on contestants performing celebrity impressions.

Carvey will be an expert mentor to the amateur contestants on the weekly half-hour program, with viewers voting on each week’s winner. Celebrity guests will appear each week.

Carvey will join in the performances, and will also be an executive producer of the show.

Said Carvey: “There are so many great impressionists and ‘First Impressions’ gives them an opportunity to showcase their talents. Besides, I’ve always enjoyed watching an impressionist nail somebody — as in capture their voice. Now I get paid to watch.”
