Actress Lisa Rinna was doing damage control after she and her famous husband took authenticity a little too far in their Halloween costumes.
Rinna and husband Harry Hamlin dressed up as punk rocker Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen — complete with a big swastika on the front of “Sid’s” red T-shirt.
Rinna, a soap opera fixture known for her roles on “Days of Our Lives” and “Melrose Place” and for hosting the SoapNet show “Soap Talk,” later went on Instagram to apologize for the couple after Hamlin’s costume sparked online outrage.
Hamlin may be best known for his run on “L.A. Law,” along with a starring role in the 1981 feature “Clash of the Titans.”
In the apology posted by Rinna, the actress wrote, “I’m sorry if I hurt you — we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend.” The actress signed the post: “With love, Lisa and Harry.”
