ABC Orders Period Drama

ABC is moving forward with a period drama project. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network ordered a pilot for “Model Woman,” from Sony Pictures TV’s recently relaunched TriStar Television.

“Inspired by Robert Lacey’s 2015 book ‘Model Woman: Eileen Ford and the Business of Beauty,’ the fictionalized drama is set in the late 1970s during the notorious Model Wars,” THR reports. “The potential series centers on Bertie Geiss — a tempestuous matriarch and uncompromising businesswoman at the helm of an internationally renowned modeling agency.”

Helen Childress is writing the script and will executive produce along with Anonymous Content’s Rosalie Swedlin and ‘The Royals” Scarlett Lacey.

  1. I’d hardly call the 1970s a “period” era.

So I guess “The Goldbergs” and “Fresh Off the Boat” are period comedies?!

  2. Subway…GREAT POINT !! I give you a “thumbs up” !!
