A Chinese investment firm is taking control of the U.S. movie studio behind a string of blockbusters. Reuters reports that Dalian Wanda Group agreed to acquire a majority stake in Legendary Entertainment, which has produced hits including “The Dark Knight,” “Jurassic World,” “Man of Steel,” the 2014 “Godzilla” remake and “The Hangover” feature franchise.
The report cites a source who’s familiar with the situation saying the deal values the studio, which was founded in 2000, at between $3 billion and $4 billion.
“The move represents Wanda’s latest bid to expand overseas and become a major player in the U.S. entertainment industry following its acquisition of AMC Entertainment Holdings, the second-largest movie theater chain in North America, for $2.6 billion in 2012,” the report notes.
I can’t wait for the next Batman movie, with the label Made In China.
Let’s just sell everything to China!
