One of the biggest stars of the current music scene — and one of its most polarizing figures — is joining the lineup of on-air talent for NBC’s “The Voice.” NBC confirmed that Miley Cyrus has signed on in the role of a key adviser.
Cyrus put the word out on Twitter, including a photo of herself licking the red button of “The Voice” mentor Christina Aguilera along with the message: “Lickin @xtina buttonz! @NBCTheVoice #keyadviser #season10.”
In a statement, Paul Telegdy, NBC entertainment president for alternative and late-night programming, said: “When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom. Our viewers will be treated to an inside look at one of the brightest minds in music and the entertainment industry who is at the forefront of pop culture.”
Cyrus has been a consistent headline magnet in recent years, drawing fans along with critics for her often outrageous antics, high-profile twerking incidents and often racy music videos. Here’s a discussion on Fox News of her infamous performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2013:
