Trump Demands New Caucus in Iowa, Accuses Cruz of Fraud

Feb 3, 2016  •  Post A Comment

After coming in second to Ted Cruz in Monday’s GOP caucuses in Iowa, Donald Trump accused Cruz of stealing the election.

Trump sent out a tweet this morning saying: “Ted Cruz didn’t win Iowa, he illegally stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong any why he got more votes than anticipated. Bad!”

The Washington Post notes that Trump later deleted the tweet and retweeted it, fixing a typo by replacing the word “any” with “and” — while also deleting the word “illegally.”

Trump followed with a series of additional tweets detailing his complaint against Cruz, alleging that Cruz inappropriately suggested Ben Carson was exiting the presidential race. Here is a part of the series of Trump tweets:

“During primetime of the Iowa Caucus, Cruz put out a release that @RealBenCarson was quitting the race, and to caucus (or vote) for Cruz.

“Many people voted for Cruz over Carson because of this Cruz fraud. Also, Cruz sent out a VOTER VIOLATION certificate to thousands of voters.

“The Voter Violation certificate gave poor marks to the unsuspecting voter (grade of F) and told them to clear it up by voting for Cruz. Fraud”

Finally, Trump called for action to correct the results of the caucuses, tweeting: “Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified.”

  1. Fact: Cruz apologized to Carson for passing along misinformation that suggested Carson withdrew shortly before the caucus began. We are still waiting for Rubio’s apology for doing the same. The implication remains that some evangelical voters expecting to vote for Carson got confused and converted to the Cruz and Rubio camp, thus spoiling the predicted win for Trump (and boosting Rubio, whose camp reportedly did more than Cruz to spread the false rumor).

  2. Why is this story even in this newsletter? Trump is nothing more than an egotistical media whore who thrives on attention. You just gave him more. Not cool!

  3. Didn’t CNN first break the story that Carson was pulling out? Boy, “The Donald” is a sore loser. We’ve already gone thru 7+ years of a “Narcissist In Chief.”
