Jared Fogle, the former pitchman for the Subway restaurant chain who is doing time on child sex and porn charges, was attacked by another inmate in the prison yard and received what TMZ.com calls “a surprise beatdown.”

“According to docs, Fogle got jumped in the rec yard at Englewood prison in Colorado back on January 29, and it was not much of a fight,” TMZ reports. “An inmate named Steven Nigg pushed Fogle down and then unloaded a barrage of punches to his face.”

Fogle reportedly received a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck.

“We spoke to Nigg’s family and they’re not surprised,” TMZ notes. “We’re told Steven’s pissed because so many child sex predators are housed in the low security facility, and Fogle was just the last straw.”

Fogle is serving a sentence of more than 15 years, after pleading guilty to the charges back in November.
