‘Castle,’ ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘CSI: Cyber,’ ‘Nashville,’ ‘Sleepy Hollow’ and Others — Checking In on the Networks’ ‘Bubble Shows’

A status report on series on the big four broadcast networks that have yet to be renewed reveals that the nets are having a relatively stable year. Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva notes that ABC has already renewed 15 series, while CBS, NBC and Fox have each renewed 11.

Among the shows “still in limbo” at ABC are “Castle” and “Nashville,” with Andreeva noting that both shows are generally expected to be brought back for at least one more season, possibly with shorter-than-standard runs.

A high-profile bubble show at CBS is “Criminal Minds,” which Andreeva says is in negotiations between CBS and ABC Studios for a new season, while CBS’s “CSI: Cyber” reportedly has prospects for a third season thanks to its profitability on the international market.

Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow” similarly has been making money internationally, which gives it a good chance of overcoming ratings erosion and making it to a fourth season. Meanwhile, NBC’s “The Mysteries of Laura” is “looking better by the day,” according to the report.

  1. Supposedly “Beckett” and “Lanie” won’t be back for season 9, and if the show comes back at all, there will only be 13 episodes.
