Fox has placed a series order for a new comedy from veteran writer and producer Ralph Farquhar and writer/director/actor Ty Hodges. Deadline.com reports that the network ordered a 10-episode run of “Famous,” which is set to premiere Sunday, June 12.
“Filmed in mock-documentary style at a ‘couples’ therapy session, ‘Famous’ features dating high school teachers Fred and Geneva, both of whom secretly aspire to work in Hollywood,” Deadline notes. “He wants to be a screenwriter and she envisions stardom as a pop diva. One of those dreams miraculously comes true when Geneva lands a record deal after her first music video goes viral and logs millions of views.”
Farquhar, whose other credits include “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “Moesha,” will executive produce, with Hodges on board as a supervising producer. The report notes that Hodges will not be acting in the series.
