A new product from ratings service Nielsen has received a boost with the TV network Univision signing up. Nielsen announced that the Spanish-language network signed on for Nielsen’s National and Local TV Digital Measurement.
Univision, the No. 1 Spanish-language TV network, became the first Spanish network to sign on for the service. The move comes as Univision has struggled with shrinking ratings and a shrinking gap between itself and Telemundo, the No. 2 Spanish-language network.
The move, which also brings UniMas to the new service, may have the effect of speeding Telemundo’s adoption of the service, which provides audience estimates of linear TV content on mobile and computer devices.
