Two of the regulars on “Nashville” appear to have had enough of the Music City drama, with The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reporting that Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples are not expected to be back for the new season.

The show, which was canceled by ABC after a four-season run on the network, is rebooting for a fifth season on CMT, where it is expected to debut in fall. The series also has new showrunners, with Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick taking over for Dee Johnson.

CMT announced earlier this month that it picked up the show with an order for a 22-episode season. The deal also reportedly includes streaming on Hulu the day after the CMT telecast.

Chase, who plays Luke Wheeler on the show, became a series regular in season three following a run the previous season as a recurring character. Peeples’ Layla Grant also recurred, for two seasons, before “graduating” to regular status for season four.

“Sources tell THR that the duo will likely be the only departures as talks with all the remaining series regulars are going well, including Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere,” THR reports. “The latter’s future on the series was in question after the major cliffhanger in the season four finale.”

  1. will Chase is one of my top four favorites, never liked the Layla character. Scarlet with short hair does not seem like a Nashville star image.let deacon and Rayna be happy for a while! Deacon and Rayna need to dig in make you think they are deeply in love I have only really felt like im looking at true love in a few scenes.Scarlet and gunner really started out with a fire in their onscreen relationship but it got lost in the storyline. The scenes from the Bluebird are cool, but you have tootsies, legends the karaoke bars in the district with people who want to get discovered. You have the Rhyman the opry house the concerts in the mall outside the opry house ,Fan Fare, the general Jackson, let us see The city on the show some. You have a college full of med students who put on their cowboy duds and hang in the bars in the District, make the young girls in the audience want to visit Nashville . There are so many sources for story lines that really bring the city into the show. I love to visit Nashville I would like to see the city in the show. There was a movie called “The Thing Called Love ” which had a very nice storyline, gave you got a good feel for the city and the quest for stardom. Bring some old songs about Nashville into the show “kay” by John Westley Riles,”Sixteenth Avenue” by lacy J Dalton, my husband likes old country bring some of that in,I liked the Porter and Dolly song Clare and Chris did ,theres a johnny and June song.Let some of the would be stars flash back to a performance that made them want to bea star.
