Two of the regulars on “Nashville” appear to have had enough of the Music City drama, with The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reporting that Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples are not expected to be back for the new season.
The show, which was canceled by ABC after a four-season run on the network, is rebooting for a fifth season on CMT, where it is expected to debut in fall. The series also has new showrunners, with Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick taking over for Dee Johnson.
CMT announced earlier this month that it picked up the show with an order for a 22-episode season. The deal also reportedly includes streaming on Hulu the day after the CMT telecast.
Chase, who plays Luke Wheeler on the show, became a series regular in season three following a run the previous season as a recurring character. Peeples’ Layla Grant also recurred, for two seasons, before “graduating” to regular status for season four.
“Sources tell THR that the duo will likely be the only departures as talks with all the remaining series regulars are going well, including Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere,” THR reports. “The latter’s future on the series was in question after the major cliffhanger in the season four finale.”
