In a move that should provide some stability to an on-air lineup that has been uncharacteristically fluid in recent seasons, “The View” is on the verge of signing moderator Whoopi Goldberg to a contract extension, Variety reports.

The one-year deal will keep her on the ABC daytime show through next summer.

“The deal is expected to close by the end of this week, according to two sources with knowledge of the talks,” Variety reports. “Contrary to online reports, Goldberg will not be taking a pay cut as part of her new contract. She will continue to earn her current annual salary, which is in the $5 [million] to $6 million range.”

The arrangement for the show’s upcoming 20th season is expected to continue to feature Goldberg as moderator on shows airing Monday-Thursday, as well as some Fridays, with Joy Behar taking over when Goldberg is off.

  1. Good. Love Whoopi and Joy….

  2. Ughhh, Whoopie and Joy are the common denominators as to why this show has cratered viewership the last 3 years. I just want something worth selling to my clients. The View ain’t it. Push Kelly back an hour and add an hour to GMA. Problem Solved !!
