Bill Maher Ready to Donate $1 Million to Hillary Clinton’s Campaign — With a Catch

Bill Maher, the outspoken host of HBO’s “Real Time,” says he may do something he was already accused of by WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange by donating $1 million to Hillary Clinton’s campaign. But the offer comes with a catch: He wants Clinton to appear on his show.

Deadline.com quotes a spokesperson for Maher saying Monday: “He did say he would consider giving a $1 million dollar donation to her Super Pac should she come on ‘Real Time’ prior to the election.”

The report adds: “That’s a departure from what Maher said on August 5 when he told Assange and viewers that ‘I can’t give a million dollars anytime somebody runs for president’ after the WikiLeaks chief pressed the HBO host on whether he would actually donate to Clinton in 2016 like he did to President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign.”

Assange appeared Friday on “Real Time,” where he was interviewed by Maher via remote with Assange at the Ecuadoran embassy in London.
