How Seth Rogen’s ‘Sausage Party’ Avoided Getting an NC-17 Rating

Seth Rogen revealed what he and the rest of the team behind “Sausage Party” had to do to avoid having the movie receive the “kiss of death” of an NC-17 rating from the MPAA.

Paste magazine reports that Rogen “fully expected an NC-17 rating from the MPAA for ‘Sausage Party,’ an adult animated comedy that reinvents the definitions of filth and humor. We did, too, to be honest.”

The movie, which comes out Aug. 12, did get an NC-17 initially, the report notes, but the producers were advised that the rating could be adjusted if they made a small change to the orgy scene — which they did.

Rogen gave the specifics during an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” which you can watch below. The clip carries a warning about salty language …
