George Zimmerman was trending again on social media today after he was allegedly punched in the face at a Florida restaurant, USA Today reports. And the trend was decidedly cheerful about the apparent assault on the admitted killer of Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman was acquitted in the 2012 shooting death of the unarmed teenager in a case that polarized the nation and received weeks of intense media scrutiny. USA Today reports that Zimmerman called a 911 dispatcher Thursday to report that he was assaulted, saying he was recognized by a group of men at Gators Riverside Grille in Sanford, Fla. The attack reportedly took place after Zimmerman talked about the Trayvon Martin shooting.

“A number of Twitter users posted celebratory memes, drawing a connection between Zimmerman and Dylann Roof, who was attacked Thursday next to a jail shower,” the story reports. “Roof faces murder charges in the killing of nine black parishioners at a Charleston, S.C., church.”

Twitter user Brown Saraah posted: “George Zimmerman killed a kid, tried to auction off the gun he used, & now brags about how he killed a kid…some people still defend this guy.” A separate message from the same account mentioned Roof and commented: “Gettin what they deserve.”
