NBC has maintained its prime-time edge in the wake of the Olympics, tying the record for most consecutive nights at No. 1 in total viewers by notching its 20th win in a row Wednesday night.
The network announced that it won the night both in total viewers and in the key 18-49 demo, pushing both streaks to 20 nights. The Wednesday results are based on Nielsen overnights.
The streak in total viewers ties the longest in people meter history. The two previous 20-night streaks also belong to NBC and are tied to its Olympics coverage, with the network accomplishing the feat from Aug. 8-27, 2008, and July 18-Aug. 6, 1996.
NBC averaged a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 Wednesday night to top No. 2 Fox’s 1.3 average.
