Turmoil Behind the Scenes at Daytime Show — Longtime Producer, Senior Staffers Reportedly Fired

A popular daytime talk show has run into some turbulence in the wake of on-air comments by the host that came under widespread criticism.

The New York Post’s Page Six reports that a number of producers have been fired by “The Wendy Williams Show.” Among those who got the ax are longtime producer Jason Gabel and “at least two other senior staff members,” according to the report.

The moves come after Williams took heat over comments she made on the show about racism. Williams said she does not believe in the NAACP or historically black colleges, noting that there’s no “white” equivalent, the story reports.

Williams apologized after getting backlash for the remarks, and invited TV One commentator Roland S. Martin — who was among Williams’ most outspoken critics — onto her show to “educate us all” on race issues. You can see a clip of Martin’s discussion with Williams below.

Reps for the show weren’t commenting.

Here’s the clip of Martin’s appearance on Williams’ show from last month, posted by the show …

  1. Complete and utter b.s.. When businesses are forced to cave into reverse discrimination, those who operate on promoting fear and are themselves racist, nothing gets accomplished other than bullies gaining power. Roland is a no talent hack who like Jesse and Reverend Al,vsits on a pulpit not based on his talent, but rather by exploiting the color of his skin for his own financial gain.

  2. They always apologize after the fact . If she didn’t mean it she would not have said it so why apologize after the fact? That is even more disgusting.
