A cable drama series that was recently renewed has now been given an additional season. TNT announced the extension today for “The Last Ship.”

The series has been in the top 10 this summer among cable dramas in the key demo of adults 18-49.

“Currently in its third season, ‘The Last Ship’ is reaching an average of 7.1 million viewers per episode across multiple platforms,” TNT noted in its announcement.

The season three finale is set to air this Sunday, Sept. 11. All of season three is available on TNT’s digital, mobile and VOD platforms.

The fourth-season renewal was announced in July at the Television Critics Association’s Summer Press Tour by TNT and TBS President Kevin Reilly. Today’s announcement means two more seasons of 10 episodes each are in the works.

Sarah Aubrey, executive vice president of original programming for TNT, said in today’s announcement: “‘The Last Ship’ has taken viewers on an exciting ride through three truly thrilling seasons. We look forward to watching the cast and production team ratchet up the drama, action and suspense even more over the next two seasons through summer 2018.”

The show, based on the William Brinkley novel, stars Eric Dane, Adam Baldwin and Bridget Regan.
